Ayalim is a student-based organization that works in the Negev and the Galilee regions building houses and working with the local communities. I built houses with them for two days and had an incredible, revelatory experience. I’ve posted an excerpt from the post below, but please read it in full on TCJewfolk’s website.

I’ll say it: God was in that sandwich. I’m not talking about the God of my neighbors down the way who wear heavy black coats in 90-degree heat and believe that a woman showing her elbows is a sign of the Apocalypse. I’m talking about something I can’t explain except to tell you what I saw… In only 26 hours Ayalim completely changed my perception of modern Zionism.
